Mr. J has great science for you and this website is just one way you can get it. This website is constantly under construction. New items are added as the course progresses. Check back here often to see the exciting things that are being added.
The current theme of this website is Astronomy. The theme may change as we progress through different areas of Earth Science but maybe not since Astronomy is so cool.
Mr. J loves all the areas of Earth Science but Astronomy and Geology are his favorites so this picture of an Astrogeologist is his favorite "self portrait".

About Mr. J
The J is short for Jerry which is short for Gerald, last name: Heder. I was born and raised in East Los Angeles. During summers while I was in High School my buddies and me would come to Parker to enjoy the refreshing water of the river and the kind hospitality of it's citizens.

After graduating from High School I worked in the construction trade while going to night school at local colleges: first at Mt. San Antonio Junior College in L.A.; then at Sierra College near Sacramento; then on to Utah Valley University where I finally earned my Bachelor's in Secondary Earth Science Education. In addition to my formal education I have spent several years studying science in the field including three years as a Naturalist in Yosemite National Park; two summers as a geo-thermal expedition leader in Yellowstone National Park; and four springs in Death Valley National Park doing field studies on geochemical processes in underground aquifers. My current project involves the geology of Joshua Tree National Park and the surrounding transition zone between the Mojave and Sonoran Deserts.

I love the earth; I love the desert; but most of all, I love teaching about the earth, desert, and anything else I can get my hands on.
The greatest satisfaction I get in life is when I am instrumental in creating within a young person a desire to learn; a desire to gain knowledge, and a desire to prusue more understanding.
